Microsoft Collaborates On A Fully Functional Halo-Themed Bionic Arm For Kids That Will Make Them Look Like Total Badasses

Master Chief himself would be jealous.

Microsoft has already made great strides in accessibility for gamers this year, releasing the Xbox Adaptive Controller to help people with mobility or dexterity limitations play the games they love.

Now they’ve partnered with Limbitless – a bionics non-profit that might now be the coolest place to work I’ve ever heard of – to create a fully functional prosthetic arm based on the cybernetic armour worn by Halo protagonist Master Chief.

Limbitless makes 3D-printed “creative and expressive” prosthetics available free of charge to kids. It’s the same organisation that teamed up with Robert Downey Jr to get then-seven-year-old Alex his own Iron Man bionic arm in 2015.

They also teamed up with Riot Games to make a range of five League Of Legends-themed prosthetics that will be available next year.

The new Halo range is a collab between Limbitless and 343 Industries, the studio behind the massively successful game franchise.

There’s the iconic khaki Master Chief Mk. VI replica arm, as well as a “multiplayer” option that allows kids to customise their gauntlet to match the colour they play with in the game.

The arms can grip onto objects using sensors – making them actually useful as well as rad as all hell.
