Learn From The NSW Police’s Mistakes And Always Google First

It should be rule one of the internet.

There are some universal truths in the age of the internet. You know the ones – always assume models are photoshopped, never listen to an influencers advice, and accept that Facebook knows more about you than you do. Probably the most important rule is to always Google anything important, like the name of a police investigation for example.

New South Wales police have been sent a memo telling their officers to make sure that the names they chose for investigations are checked before being used. This check should include both googling the word and also checking this fun, new website you might have heard of called Urban Dictionary.

Only a couple of days later, police announced their new strike force ready to investigate Angus Taylor’s fake document. Strike Force Garrad

Clearly someone didn’t listen to the memo, because it turns out garrad has quite a colourful definition:

Garrad
Definition: The dumbest motherf*cker in the whole land.
Example: The garrad was really dumb and asks “do we write it on paper?”

Here’s a quick summary of what the hell Angus Taylor needs an investigation for. He’s the minister for emissions reduction, and used what he said was the City of Sydney’s 2017/18 annual report to yell at the Sydney mayor about their size of their carbon footprint. Turns out the report was faked and all the numbers on it made up, allegedly by his own office.

Angus Taylor is also the guy who accidentally used the wrong Facebook page to praise himself a few months ago, leading to tons of “Fantastic. Great move. Well done Angus” memes.

I’m not saying these incidents were garrad moves, but they certainly weren’t exactly smart.

Rule number one of the internet, my friend. I’ll say it one more time: Google. Every. Damn. Thing.
