Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you weren’t planning on checking your Gmail or Snapchat, or maybe ordering an Uber or watching a Youtube video on public transport this morning, because all of those things are currently down.
Say what now?
That’s right, thanks to an outage on Google Cloud, numerous sites and apps are down with millions unable to access the sites.
Google services suffered complications overnight with the root cause appearing to be problems with Google’s Cloud service which powers apps other than just Google’s own web services.
At 2:58pm pacific time (7:58am AEDT), Google shared an update which read:
“We continue to experience high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA, affecting multiple services in Google Cloud, G Suite and YouTube. Users may see slow performance or intermittent errors. Our engineering teams have completed the first phase of their mitigation work and are currently implementing the second phase, after which we expect to return to normal service.”
Once again, Twitter came out on top as thousands shared their anger on the social media site:
