WARNING: Some spoilers for season eight, episode two ahead!
It’s been eight long years that we’ve been watching Game of Thrones and in that time we’ve seen a lot of sex scenes. Like, way more than we needed.
So much so, that it’s gotten to a point where all we want to see is some good old-fashioned chemistry.
While Daenerys and Jon Snow might be the big [incestuous] love story of the show, the most satisfying relationship in our opinion is between Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth.
Even A Song Of Ice And Fire author George R.R. Martin has a soft for the pairing, writes Vanity Fair.
In episode two of season eight, Brienne is made a knight due to the respect Jaime has for her, even though women aren’t technically meant to be knights.

It’s Jaime who gives her the knighthood and it’s as though they were completely alone in the room when it happened – their chemistry is seriously intense.

This scene could be the closest they’ll get to expressing their affection for each other.
What’s important to note here as well, is that these two first met in season two, so fans have been waiting a long time for something to happen between them.
The pair grow to respect each other and come to each other’s defense more than once. It’s Brienne’s idea of honour that slowly draws Jaime to be the knight he once was.

In comparison to their relationship, which has slowly been building, Jon and Daenerys seem to be on fast forward.
In an episode where everyone is incredibly horny due to the impending war – it was episode 69 after all – we only want more of that sweet chemistry between Brienne and Jaime.

Gwendoline Christie put it very well in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2013:
“Brienne is a virgin and Jamie has only slept with his sister, so . . . [Laughs]. We’re looking at two highly unusual individuals. I don’t think that anyone genuinely can predict the way in which their relationship will go in any regard.
“Genuine and true love is so rare that when you encounter it in any form, it’s a wonderful thing, to be utterly cherished in whatever form it takes.
“We all want to see the impossible actually happen, to see these two extraordinary characters reach that amazing stage. Everyone’s a sucker for some love and romance and whatever that may bring.”
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, meanwhile, was recently asked by Huffington Post about whether Brienne was the love of Jaime’s life and he played coy and said, “Ohhh, well, who knows?”
“I don’t, well, I know how it ends but … no, I can’t comment on that.”
He then went on to add, “I don’t think [the GoT writers ] could’ve done a better job at finishing this story.”
“To me, it was very satisfying but also very surprising and all the things that I was hoping for. It still made sense… Here, they’ve done a really, really good job.”
