Tyrion Actually Became The Game Of Thrones King, And He Deserved It

We just never noticed.

The Game of Thrones finale aired a week ago and people still haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Now, a new theory has us thinking about the ending a little differently.

Reddit user AgnostosTheosLogos has broken down moments from the final season to prove that Tyrion was actually King (at one point) and won the game of thrones – we just never noticed it.

This is how it makes sense:

Cersei was Queen, but was then crushed to death at the Red Keep when Daenerys and Dragon burned King’s Landing to a crisp.

Dany was killed by her next living relative Jon Snow AKA Aegon Targaryen, so the throne should have gone to him, but he didn’t want it.

Therefore, Tyrion, who was Cersei’s next male blood relative, was actually the winner of the game of thrones and therefore, King.

Many fans have argued Gendry was in fact the rightful heir, however, he was still considered a bastard in the eyes of the Lannister/Baratheon line so he wasn’t eligible.

Tyrion’s one and only order during his short rule was that “rulers will not be born, they will be chosen… by the Lords and Ladies of Westeros, to serve the realm”.

Meanwhile, Tyrion may have picked Bran to be the new King, however, he was still pretty much King himself – Bran literally left him to run the meeting at the end of the episode.

The Redditor wrote, “Tyrion was King. He had the only widely known claim. Until others [were] discussed, that means his WAS the only claim. He wielded the power OF a King when he made a new law. He abdicated his crown, his claim, his position, to Bran, in accordance with the new law he created.”

In the comments they added, “Here’s to the King in Chains! The shortest (both height and length of rule) and Final King of the 7 Kingdoms (as it became 6 after him), the breaker of the wheel (no more bloodline rulers), the true hero and Winner of the Game of Thrones!

“The most subversive victory in the entire story, so much so, that no one even noticed. To Our King! Short Was His Reign!”

Cheers!

As the wisest man in Westeros he totally would have deserved to be King, however, he didn’t have the love of the people which might not have worked out very well.

So, there you have it. Tyrion won the game and we never even noticed.
