This Game Of Thrones Prophecy Will Finally Come True When Kit Harington Joins The MCU

It's about time!

When Game of Thrones came to an end earlier this year there were many things left unresolved, but it seems like one of those things may finally be coming true, just not in Westeros.

One of the prophecies that was never resolved was The Prince That Was Promised.

Melisandre, who was gifted by The Lord of Light with the ability to see the future when looking into flames, first brought up the prophecy in GoT season two.

She believed Stannis Baratheon was the chosen one and had him pull a sword from a burning fire to prove it as the prophecy stated the legendary hero would do the same.

The sword, known as Lightbringer was forged by the original Azor Ahai centuries before.

However, she soon turned her attention to Jon Snow because she only saw a blanket of snow in her visions and thus thought it would be Jon, not Stannis, who was destined to use Lightbringer and put an end to all evil threats looming over the land.

Because she thought Jon was The Prince That Was Promised, she brought him back to life when he was murdered by the Night’s Watch members.

In the end, it was actually Arya Stark who killed the Night King and ended the battle with the White Walkers, and it seemed as though the prophecy was forgotten.

But, according to ScreenRant, it looks like it may actually be fulfilled in the MCU’s The Eternals, Kit Harington’s newest project.

It was announced at the D23 Expo in August that Harington would take on the role of Dane Whitman AKA Black Knight in The Eternals.

Like Azor Ahai, the Black Knight title has existed for more than one generation. In the comics, it is both a gift and a curse that has been passed down through the Whitman family and has been since the days of King Arthur and Merlin.

So, the character is the chosen one who will fight alongside the Eternals and, down the line, maybe the Avengers. The character’s signature weapon is the Ebony Blade, but he often uses another – The Sword of Light. While this sword was acquired from a lake rather than a fire, it does have a strong resemblance to Azor Ahai’s Lightbringer.

Of course, the two characters aren’t actually connected, but it’s pretty cool that in a very weird way Harington will get to act out the prophecy that we thought we’d see on Game of Thrones.
