Game Of Thrones Isn't Actually Over Yet, In Case You Hated That Ending Too

Prepare yourselves for the prequel...

Winter will never end.

The first of many Game Of Thrones prequels has begun filming in Northern Island, according to Entertainment Weekly. Filming locations across Belfast have been spotted, with many of the sites using similar locations to the original series.

It seems that HBO is keen to get back on the cash cow that is Game Of Thrones, however the fan base is far from ready to trust again. With an unnecessarily rushed final season full of contradictions and shark jumping, many GoT fans are still feeling the sting of the finale.

Looking at you David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

If the fan base is ever willing to trust again there is no guarantee this prequel will even make it to the screen. One spin-off has already been cancelled in the wake of the backlash to the series ending.

Apparently only the pilot episode is being shot for the new series, with HBO having the final say on whether or not it will become a full series. HBO may be somewhat lenient with this pilot and give it a few tries, what with the infamous pilot of Game of Thrones being a complete trainwreck the first time around.

With author George R.R. Martin joining the series as a showrunner there is some hope that just maybe the prequel series will return to the golden era of the early GoT seasons.

While still untitled, the prequel series “chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour”, whatever that means. It’s set thousands of years before the events of the main show, so it should be able to separate itself from the horrendous ending and events of season 8… and season 7… and season 6.

I drink to forget.

“Westeros is a very different place,” Martin told EW when the prequel was first optioned. “There’s no King’s Landing. There’s no Iron Throne. There are no Targaryens — Valyria has hardly begun to rise yet with its dragons and the great empire that it built. We’re dealing with a different and older world and hopefully that will be part of the fun of the series.”

If the series does get the green light, you’ve got until late 2020 or in the first half of 2021 to prepare yourself for its premiere.
