Look, you don’t download Game Of Thrones illegally, and neither does anybody you know. We are all law-abiding, content-supporting citizens.
But SOME people download it, because it’s the most pirated show in Australia, and in the world.
And, possibly in related news, it’s also the most dangerous.
A new report that happens to be sponsored by a company that makes virus protection software, Kaspersky, says 17% of malware-infected pirate downloads last year were of Game of Thrones episodes – and that’s in a year where the show wasn’t even on.
The most infected episode is the first one, and the first and last episodes of every season are pretty loaded up with bad stuff too.
But it’s not just the dragon show: The Walking Dead and Arrow are the next two most dangerous shows. (And not just if you’re a character.)
It seems when you illegally download Game Of Thrones, your computer dies, and nobody wins.
So when the final season returns next weekend, do consider acquiring it legitimately – or at least acquiring a nice new girlfriend with a Foxtel Now account.
