Fyre Festival Was Such A Nightmare Netflix Made A Horror Show About It

Welcome to the I-Land.

Just when you thought the world had finally moved past the nightmare that was Fyre Festival, Netflix goes and makes a horror show about it and it’s like we’re experiencing PTSD all over again.

Earlier this week, Netflix dropped the trailer for The I-Land, an upcoming science fiction thriller miniseries set to premiere on the streaming platform next month.

According to Netflix, the series follows “ten people who wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, and set off on a trek to try and get back home.”

“They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the island’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves – or die as their worst ones.”

The clip starts off as a blatant parody of Fyre’s now infamous promo video, featuring stunning models, crystal blue water, white sands, and even the famous swimming pigs of the Bahamas. Check out Fyre’s video below:

Literally the only thing missing is Billy McFarland and Ja-Rule toasting to “living like movie stars, partying like rock stars, and f*cking like porn stars!”

I’m still cringing over that one.

Later in the trailer, things take a turn for the worst and The I-Land goes from hot dance party to full-blown horror show. Think The Hunger Games meets Leonardo DiCaprio’s manic character in the 2000 drama The Beach. Scary stuff.

In fact, The I-Land appears to ‘borrow’ concepts from a fair few films and TV shows. Anyone else getting Lost and Lord Of The Flies vibes?

In all fairness, the whole stranded on a desert island and sent into madness thing is a tried and tested plot. Big shout out to Tom Hanks in Castaway.

The I-Land drops on Netflix on September 12th. Whether it’s a repeat or not, I’m still keen to see what it has to offer.
