Kelsey Grammar Is Considering A Frasier Reboot But Do We Really Need It In The Year Of Our Lord 2018?

Kelsey Grammar is reportedly shopping the idea around US networks.

Kelsey Grammar is looking at rebooting his hit 90’s TV show Frasier, according to reports out of Hollywood today. Supposedly, he is looking at having the reboot follow Frasier as he sets up a new life in a new city.

This wouldn’t be the first time Frasier has set up a new show with this premise; the original Frasier was itself a spin-off of the 80s Cheers, with Frasier Crane moving from Boston to his hometown Seattle.

This is all fine, in theory. But really, after a solid twelve months of every 90s TV show getting a reboot, including Roseanne, Twin Peaks, Will & Grace, and Charmed, it does feel a slight bit conceited.

It sounds like none of the main Frasier cast, which included Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce and the late John Mahoney, will be returning. Which is a shame, considering that they all really pulled their weight, both acting- and comedy-wise.

Not to mention, the Kelsey Grammar of today is a very different beast (haha, pun!) to the one of the 90s, with his political views taking more and more of a front seat. It’s not beyond the pale that he would try to heavy rewrite and change the character similar to what Roseanne Barr did to Roseanne Conner.

Frankly, in sounds more and more like Kelsey Grammar is just trying to cash in on 90s nostalgia and a rise in Frasier-related memes. Which isn’t a great reason to do anything at all, especially for something as quaint and magical as the original Frasier.

All we can hope is that the reboot goes complete balls-to-the-wall with it.
