Cue The Teenage Tantrum Cos Fortnite Star FaZe Jarvis Has Copped A Lifetime Ban

"I know how big of a mistake I've made."

If you know more about Fortnite than the viral dance moves, you’ll be well aware that YouTuber and star gamer FaZe Jarvis has been slammed with a lifetime ban after he was caught cheating.

Today, the 17-year-old, whose name is Kaye Jarvis, apologised to his two million subscribers in a tearful video and also tweeted, “I’m going to take accountability for my actions and I understand completely why this has happened, I just wish I had known how severe the consequences were at the time and I would have never thought about doing it.”

Jarvis was slammed with the ban after he posted videos of himself using aimbots while playing the game – a function that allows gamers to shoot competitors without carefully aiming.

In his apology video, Jarvis breaks down telling his subscribers, “This is going to prevent me from going to any other events, or even exploring any other opportunities.”

Judging by the comments on Twitter, it doesn’t sound like there’s much sympathy for Jarvis, with users claiming he “deserved” to be banned.

It’s not the first scandal Fortnite has faced, either. Last month, two parents separately attempted to sue Fortnite, claiming their children had become addicted to the popular game.

“The addiction to the game Fortnite has real consequences on the lives of players, many of whom have developed problems such as they do not eat, do not shower and no longer socialise,” the suit stated. “Moreover, rehabilitation centres specifically dedicated to addiction to Fortnite have opened all over the world, particularly in Quebec and Canada, to treat people for addiction.”

Earlier this year, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro, Russell ‘Backpack Kid’ Horning, ‘Orange T-Shirt Kid,’ and rappers Terrence ‘2 Milly’ Ferguson and James ‘BlocBoyJB’ Baker sued Fortnite for ripping off their dance moves and using them for emotes.

It’s no surprise there’s so much attention on and controversy surrounding Fortnite. This year, 16-year-old Kyle Giesdorf became Fortnite’s world champion and took home $3M in prize money – so clearly, the game is a big deal. Suddenly, FaZe Jarvis’ tears feel very real.
