Australia, You Ordered Way Too Many Chicken Nuggets This Year And We Need To Talk About Your Choices

We're only saying this because we care.

Sometimes we need to pause and think objectively about some of our choices. And, Australia, as we reach the end of the year it’s a perfect time to reflect on questions like “am I a good person?”, “am I doing good in the world?” and “do I order too many chicken nuggets?”

We can’t help you with the first two, but we can give a definitive answer on the third. And it is yes, dear god yes.

This is you, nation. THIS IS YOU.

UberEats have crunched their data like so many crispy fried bits of chicken-stuff and established that 83 million McDonalds chicken nuggets were ordered and, one assumes, consumed in 2018.

Sydney was the nuggetest city with 25 million-plus, followed by Melbourne and then Perth. What are you people doing?

This, we assume.

Now, before you assume that this is Australia’s obesity problem in a single data point, be advised that searches for vegetarian options jumped significantly – there’s been a 75 per cent increase in searches from August to November. So that’s good.

Mind you, someone in Australia also made 658 UberEats orders, so maybe we need to talk to them first. We’re not judging, we’re just concerned.
