Vanessa Carlton and Chris Brown Are The 2018 Internet Feud Our High School mp3 Folders Deserve

“I Don’t Want To Be Associated With An Artist That Has Assaulted Women”

It was just a few days ago that the Internet was buzzing with positivity and encouragement in celebration of International Women’s Day, but not everyone was happy with the posts floating around on social media.

Chris Brown angered singer Vanessa Carlton and her legion of fans when he used her infamous hit, “A Thousand Miles” in one of his Instagram videos. Something we’re sure none of us ever thought would actually be a thing…

The now deleted clip saw Chris using the hit tune in a post titled “MOOD. THIS SONG LIT FOREVER”, which he uploaded on International Women’s Day.

Vanessa wasted no time in making it very clear she didn’t want to be associated with him in any way.

The crooner took to Instagram to vent her anger at being aligned to an artist who has an unsettling and convicted history of assaulting women.

“Today Chris Brown posted my video. I am now being repeatedly tagged to his account,” she wrote. “Being that today is International Women’s Day I feel compelled to draw a line. I support survivors not perpetrators of domestic violence. I do not want to be associated with an artist that has assaulted women on a day like today.”

Chris didn’t seem fazed by Vanessa’s comments.

“@vanessacarlton I posted a song that was and still is a great song and the artist felt she was doing her duty as a WOMAN to continue to spread this kind of hatred today. I won’t keep it up long. I just hope she knows she is loved and her song is great.”

Not sure why Brown thought it would be a good idea to call Vanessa out as a “WOMAN” spreading hate because it’s  her “duty” as a female, but then again why does Brown do anything. Could it be that he still can’t accept that many women and men view him as an abuser?

Although the post has since been deleted, Chris (who clearly didn’t get the message) then uploaded a new post titled “I LOVE THIS SONG”, which features the same tune in a scene from the 2004 film, White Chicks.

So let’s just hold up for a second. Chris knew Vanessa was unhappy about him using her song but uploaded the tune for a second time anyway, to either upset her more or prove a point? Good to know Brown is still great at respecting women and their wishes.

And of course, because the Internet can be a cesspool of hate, Vanessa is already getting trolled for standing up for herself and not being gracious in the wake of Brown’s ‘compliment’.
