Iggy Azalea’s Openness About Her Body And Plastic Surgery Does Not Excuse Leaking Her Topless Pics

Iggy has deactivated her social media since her leaked nudes have gone viral online.

UPDATE May 28, 2:45pm

Iggy Azalea has released a statement regarding the photo leak in a since-deleted note to her followers.

“Today I’m a ball of negative emotions. I feel blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry, sad and a million other things. Not solely because I did not consent to this — but also because of the vile way people have reacted,” she wrote.

She specifically calls out the men taking things further by “sharing their thoughts and fantasies in regards to my body”.

Original Article:

Iggy Azalea is the latest in a long line of women to have their private, nude photos leaked without her permission. On Monday May 27, a day after the photos were leaked and began gaining traction online, Iggy deactivated her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

It’s understandable that she would want to take a break from social media, as she was being inundated with sexual jokes and crude discussion of her body. Her privacy has been disregarded, and her body treated like fair game to anyone with a keyboard.

The photos are reportedly from a GQ Australia photo shoot taken in 2016 by photographer Nino Munoz. Iggy Azalea never gave permission for the dissemination of the topless pictures.

Censored versions of the images can be seen in this GQ story that explains the uncensored photo was gifted by Azalea as a gift to plastic surgeon Dr. Ashkan Ghavami, who performed her breast augmentation surgery in 2015.

Iggy Azalea has been open about having her breasts augmented in interviews and a post on her Instagram that thanked Dr. Ghavami for his work.

But vanity aside; Ash you’re hilarious as hell, talented, eclectic, a progressive thinker & someone who supports women in their choice to do what they want with their OWN bodies (tons of men don’t share that sentiment). So cheers to you! I’m proud to call you my friend.” she captioned the post.

Yes, Iggy Azalea has spoken openly about her breast augmentation, sent a picture to one person, and has chosen to appear scantily clad in the public eye. NONE of this excuses leaking her private photos. No one has the right to access someone’s private photos without their permission, and sharing nude photos of someone without their permission is a crime.

What makes this even shittier is the fact that not only does Iggy Azalea have to go through the emotional distress of having her privacy violated and her body sexualised, but to avoid further anguish she has had to leave the platforms which are key parts of her business success.

Musicians like Iggy Azalea use Twitter and Instagram as their main platforms, and with a new album coming out soon, leaving those platforms is the last thing that she would want to do business-wise.

The hashtag #RespectIggy is trending among people on Twitter calling out the violation of privacy and public humiliation that Iggy Azalea is facing.

Sharing someone’s nude photos without their permission is a crime and I hope someone gets punished accordingly.
