Luxury brand Balenciaga is often seen as leading the way in setting fashion trends. Think of their Triple S “dad shoes”, one of the most desirable items of fashion over the past few years. Or their $A2700 homage to the humble IKEA bag which caused the internet to guffaw in unison. However, their latest attempts at setting a new standard of high fashion has set Twitter alight in disbelief at a level that even the bedazzled Crocs could not achieve.
Behold the next fashion monstrosity!
US$1,290 for this, @BALENCIAGA??! pic.twitter.com/aQwS2MFwwk

Known as the T-Shirt Shirt, the um, shirt-squared is exactly as confusing as you can imagine such a shirt to be. Featuring both a blue shirt with another checked shirt hanging off it, has left us all baffled as to what constitutes fashion these days.
So, if you’re brave enough to fork out for a $A1950 t-shirt, you too can be an #influencer.
Or, alternatively, you’ll be roasted by your friends and family if some of these savage comments found online are any guide.

The fact that the owner of the Balenciaga brand, Kering, is set to reach the 1 billion euro mark after an exceptional fourth quarter in 2017, suggests that the joke is probably on us, rather than on Balenciaga.
That asteroid should just crash into earth and end it all.
