Minds Will Be Blown By The Sneaky Link Between 'Hocus Pocus' And 'Friends'

This changes everything.

If you told me there was a link between the iconic TV series Friends and the 1993 classic Hocus Pocus, I’d think you had been cast under some sort of strange spell – but there is, in fact, a sneaky little link between these two cult favourites.

Internet sleuths with far too much time on their hands have just discovered that the fountain from the much-loved intro of Friends is the exact same fountain that appears in a scene from Hocus Pocus.

I’ll give you a moment to process this mind-blowing news.

The Friends fountain appears in Hocus Pocus about midway through the film when Max, Allison, Dani, and Binx think they’ve killed the evil Sanderson sisters and run to a nearby park to cheer in celebration. In the background of the scene lies the iconic fountain – the only thing missing is the couch and umbrellas.

Much like the other fictional locations in Friends, the fountain is located in Burbank, California on Warner Bros’ ranch – not in New York like the show would like you to think, or Salem, Massachusetts where Hocus Pocus takes place.

This weird Friends/Hocus Pocus crossover comes just days after rumours of a reboot started making the rounds on the Internet. According to Screen Rant, Hocus Pocus 2 will be a TV movie for release on Freeform or the upcoming Disney+ streaming platform.

While there’s been no official confirmation of the cast, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Instagram account @PopCulture suggested Bridesmaids trio Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph to play the roles of the Sanderson witches, receiving mixed reviews in the comments section.

When asked about a potential reboot back in 2017, Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler wasn’t shy about making her feelings known. “I know it’s cheap. It’s going to be cheap!” she told PEOPLE. “My character is very, very broad and I don’t know who they’re going to find to play that.”

Midler makes some good points and now the Internet has cracked the code on the Friends fountain, is a reboot really a good idea? We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
