After Labor lost the unlosable election, we thought maybe we’d still get a victory with Kate Miller-Heidke at Eurovision.
However, our dreams came crashing down and we somehow managed to lose the Eurovision crown to the Netherlands instead.

Miller-Heidke was considered a frontrunner with many expecting her to win thanks to her song ‘Zero Gravity’, but it just wasn’t meant to be with the singer coming in NINTH PLACE. Yep, you read that right.

Votes were split between the professional jury and the public vote. When the professional votes came in Australia sat at number six, but then the public votes sent us down the ninth place.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter was shook we didn’t place higher on the leader board:
Best by a loooooooong way !!!!
Absolutely brilliant.

Italy came in second place, with Russia following in third, Switzerland fourth and Norway fifth.
Look, we gave it a crack, even though we don’t have the political pull of actual European countries – even though Eurovision is meant to be totally apolitical…
Better luck next time I guess!
