Very few movies can build up hype without having a pre-existing fan base, but Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is doing just that. In a matter of days, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga has become one of the most anticipated films of the year and for good reason. Let’s break down everything we know about this upcoming flick.

The story follows Lars Erickssong (played by Will Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdottir (played by Rachel McAdams), who are two small-town, Icelandic singers who get the opportunity of a lifetime to represent their country in the Eurovision Song Contest. Literally, we can’t believe this movie hasn’t been made already.
In the past few days, we’ve been exposed to more details that make this upcoming feel-good comedy look like one that we’ll be talking about for ages.
Firstly, Graham Norton has been brought onto the project to play himself and we couldn’t be more excited. The iconic British talk-show host also happens to be a commentator for Eurovision in the UK and Ireland and thus, he will be brought onto the project to play a fictional version of himself. We love to see it.
Also, in case you missed it, 007-alumni, Pierce Brosnan, is also on board for the project.
In an interview with the Late Late Show, Brosnan said, “It takes place in Iceland and Will and his girlfriend, they want to sing in the Eurovision Song Contest. I play Erick, the father, possibly ‘the most handsome man in Iceland’, as they say. And I’m a fisherman; I shun these kinds of foolish ways… I think it’s a wonderful film!”
In addition to all of this, Netflix has released a song performed by the film’s protagonists Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir called ‘Volcano Man’ and far out, it’s a literal banger.
The song which was also released via SBS’ Eurovision 2020: Big Night In! showcases Rachel McAdams’ flawless vocal ability and Will Ferrell giving us Pitch Perfect realness. Remind us again why she isn’t a popstar yet? Watch the incredible clip music video here.
All this information has us on the edge of our seats for the film to come out. Look, we are sad that the contest was cancelled this year, but we’ll gladly take this Eurovision film instead.
