It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Why Was Netflix’s ‘Sabrina’ Cancelled, But ‘Riverdale’ Lives To See Another Day?

What the Spell-man?

In extremely sad news for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fans, the show has officially been cancelled.

Speaking of iconic entertainment, we spoke to Dan Webber about his new film ‘Escape from Pretoria’ on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Netflix has just announced that the series will end after it returns later this year for ‘Part 4.’ Now, while we understand that shows eventually need to come to an end, we simply have to ask, why on earth does Riverdale get to see another day and not Sabrina

She’s literally an icon.

If you didn’t know, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (like Riverdale) was originally created for broadcast TV in America. The musical-driven Riverdale was initially developed for Fox and moved to the CW Network, whilst the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was designed as a spinoff for the CW Network and eventually moved to Netflix. The reason why the show moved to Netflix was in part because of Riverdale becoming such a massive hit.

But, ultimately, we have to ask, is there any way that you can reverse this decision and cancel Riverdale instead of Sabrina? Because we need you to know Sabrina has some hardcore fans (including us), who will feel very cut if this is the case. Plus, we’ve seen enough Riverdale High musical numbers please and flawed plot points, please.

Netflix cancelling ‘Sabrina’ like…

Many of the cast and crew have made statements to social media addressing Sabrina’s cancellation.

Showrunner and Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, said in a statement made to TV Line: “Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honour from day one. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favourite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show.”

He continued,  “I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see part four.” Honestly, we feel pretty bad for Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa because his Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene was also cancelled.

The show’s lead, Kiernan Shipka, also addressed the Sabrina cancellation on Instagram saying, “FINAL PART LETS GOOO WITCHES!!!!!!!” Short and sweet.

I guess all that’s left to do is finish Sabrina then watch the series all over again. For other Riverdale-related trainwrecks that we can’t look away from, have you all seen KJ Apa’s TikTok?
