Remember when the cast and crew of Game of Thrones left a disposable coffee cup in the background of one scene and got absolutely torn to shreds by fans? Well, it happened again – and this time it’s a Hydro Flask and Greta Gerwig’s 2019 coming-of-age period drama film Little Women at the centre of the controversy.

A bunch of eagle-eyed Timothee Chalamet fans have taken to social media to point out not only a water bottle, but a Hydro Flask (!!) in the background of one of the scenes.
There’s a few problems here. Not only is Little Women set in 1868 – which is a good 141 years before Hydro Flask was founded, but who didn’t check this shot before it made it to cinemas!?
And most importantly, which VSCO girl left their Hydro Flask on set?
Game of Thrones and Little Women aren’t the only films to leave bizarre objects in the backgrounds of scenes. In 1992’s Newsies there are neon ‘EXIT’ signs in the background of one scene, despite the film being set in 1899, and the same goes for 2000’s Oh Brother, Where Art Thou, which was supposed to be set in the 1930s.
In the background of the 1995 blockbuster Braveheart, there’s a modern white car zooming past – despite the film being set in 13th century Scotland. Even in last year’s popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian, fans spotted a boom mic in the top corner of one scene. Yikes.
If there’s anything we’ve learned from the Game of Thrones coffee cup-gate of 2019, it’s that mistakes happen. In an official statement, HBO joked, “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”
Unless you’re a crazy film buff, you’ve got to laugh at these big screen blunders. At the end of the day – we’re all human.
