Whatever Happened To ‘The Scene’ From ‘Selena Gomez & The Scene’?

Telling you something you don’t know.

Last week, Selena Gomez hopped on the Kelly Clarkson show to talk about her lengthy career. When Kelly Clarkson asked the songstress, “You’ve said that this album is your most honest album, so why do you think so?”, Selena replied, “Because I started so young”.

Speaking of iconic Disney Channel alumni, we spoke about Miley Cyrus on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Selena continued, “There’s a huge part of me that didn’t get a chance to develop my identity in a normal setting. So, when I was working with Disney it was the best time of my life and I had a great time, I have nothing but good things to say but, it was a bit more controlled. There were certain things that I… you know, had to do and not… go into figuring out what my sound would be”.

For some essential context, Selena Gomez has been making music for over a decade now. In 2009, she entered the popisphere under the band-name ‘Selena Gomez and The Scene’. While her Disney counterparts like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato were solo artists, Selena Gomez wanted to be a part of a band, holding auditions in L.A. and creating what would eventually be known as ‘The Scene’. Selena Gomez cited Paramore as a big influence for her and called her band ‘The Scene’ to poke fun at potential haters.

Selena Gomez made three albums with The Scene, which evolved from more rock-based to more contemporary sounds. Selena ended up parting ways with The Scene in 2012, after three tours and six platinum-selling singles. As of now, Selena Gomez has released three albums under her own name, and the rest of The Scene (Greg Garman, Joey Clement, Nick Foxer and Ethan Roberts) have yet to reunite.

So, where are ‘The Scene’ now? Well, we’ve done the research, so you don’t have to.

Joey Clement

Joey Clement played bass-guitar when he was in The Scene. Good news is, he’s still making music. He’s happily married with a son and has been playing a few shows with The Calling. Not to mention, he recently shared a little throwback to The Scene-days when he shared a Billboard article shouting them out.

Gregg Graman

Gregg Garman played the drums when he was in The Scene. Like Joey, he’s still making amazing music, most recently playing for Holy Wars. Also, if you’re interested in learning how to play the drums, why not get some lessons from this Disney Channel icon. Live in Australia? No worries! The lessons are available via Skype. Not to mention, he’s literally played every relevant tv show in the States.

Nick Foxer

Nick Foxer played keyboard and did backing vocals for The Scene. He actually left the band in the early days, after the first album debuted. The reasons why he left the band are unknown. But, since he’s left, he has started his own YouTube show called Earth To Foxer’. The online series follows the ex-Scene member travel around the world.

Ethan Roberts

Ethan Roberts was the musical director of the band as well as playing lead guitar and also offering backing vocals for Selena Gomez and The Scene. Like Nick, he also left the band before they suspended, but a little later than Foxer did. Since The Scene days, he has co-founded the website yourprostudio.com/ and he is also the CEO of Played By Ear Music.

Dane Forrest

Dane Forrest was part of the final lineup of Selena Gomez and The Scene, playing keyboards from the second album onwards. He is now working as a musical director and keyboard player with up-and-comers Dylan Schnider and Noah Schnacky. Love that for him!
