'Watermelon Sugar' Models Say Harry Styles Was The King Of Consent On Set

"That's why it was so fun – everyone was so comfortable."

Since Harry Styles went solo and blessed us with Fine Line, he’s seemingly embraced his vulnerability, sexuality and freedom more than ever before. But one thing Harry Styles is not embracing is toxic behaviour – just ask the models from his recent ‘Watermelon Sugar’ video.

Hear all about Harry Styles’ new vibe below:

Earlier today, Styles dropped the video for ‘Watermelon Sugar’ – a ‘70s inspired, psychedelic orgy of colours, genetically-blessed models, and as expected, a lot of watermelon.

After the video was released, Ephrata, a model who appeared in the video took to socials to discuss her experience on set. She explained that during filming, “The people were telling him to touch my hair and play with it and he was like ‘wait, pause can I touch your hair’”

“I was like ‘yeah, that’s really nice of you,’” she said. “Then everyone was like ‘consent king, consent king!’”

“That’s why it was so fun – everyone was so comfortable,” she added.

In another Tweet, Ephrata wrote, “Harry Styles is an amazing person and his fan base is just as beautiful.”

It’s not the first time Harry Styles has placed importance on respecting others – and women, in particular. In a 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, the singer said, “I think ultimately feminism is the thinking that men and women should be equal, right?”

“People think that if you say ‘I’m a feminist,’ it means you think men should burn in hell and women should trample on their necks,” he said. “No, you think women should be equal. That doesn’t feel like a crazy thing to me.”

“I think the ideals of feminism are pretty straightforward,” he added.

There you have it – not only is Harry Styles a feminist ‘king of consent,’ but he even released the video for ‘Watermelon Sugar’ with a warning to “not try this at home” and practice safe social distancing. Harry – never change.
