Last night Tyler, the Creator took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album, which high-key is a massive deal. This marks the first Grammy for the 28-year-old rapper, who has been making music for over a decade now. If you need a little Grammys refresher, we got you:
But the reason why we’re celebrating with him is that he finally got justice on an annoying, Twitter hater.
Tyler, the Creator took to the social media platform to resurface an old Tweet from some random. The tweet in question comes from someone called Mark Anthony (no, not Jennifer Lopez’ ex), and he says “dont b too excited. u wont get one…..”, of course talking about music’s most prestigious award.
Well, looks like Tyler got the last laugh, replying to this Tweet a full 9 years later, saying: “I FAVORITED THIS 9 YEARS AGO JUST FOR THE MOMENT TO TELL YOU I GOT ONE. YES IM PETTY AS F**K, GOOD DAY MARK”. Check out the interaction here:
Funnily enough, Mark Anthony still seems to be hating on Tyler to this day. We’re guessing he really isn’t a fan.
Interestingly enough, there is a chance that Tyler sees where Mark is coming from, considering a comment he made on his album being classified as a “rap” album, despite being experimental.
When talking to the press, backstage of the Grammy’s he said: “On one side I’m very grateful that what I made could be acknowledged in a world like this, but also it sucks that whenever ‘we’ – and I mean guys that look like me – do anything that’s genre-bending or that’s anything, they always put it in a rap or ‘urban’ category which is – and I don’t like that “urban” word, it’s just a politically correct way to say the ‘N-word’ to me”:
Regardless, we’re happy that Tyler has won a Grammy, we’re happy that he shut this troll down and we’re happy that he’s happy.
