It’s been well over a decade since Lady Gaga dropped her synth-pop banger, ‘Poker Face’, upon the world and it is still a tune that gets the blood pumping. You simply can’t listen to the song and not sing along whenever that robot-sounding chorus and hook comes up.
Here’s the thing though, we’ve been listening to the lyrics incorrectly this entire time.
After years of seeing the music video and hearing the song on loop, it’s been burned into our brains that the chorus to ‘Poker Face’ is:
Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She got me like nobody)P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(She got me like nobody)
As it turns out, Lady Gaga isn’t actually singing “P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face” every single time. If you listen carefully, she’s actually singing “f**k her face” on every second repetition of the phrase during the chorus.

So in other words, Lady Gaga has been trolling us this whole time and we’ve only just realised it despite the lyric hiding under our noses this entire time. Who would’ve thought autotune would be such a powerful trolling tool?

It’s quite the genius stroke from Lady Gaga and it’s actually quite surprising that this cheeky little ‘Poker Face’ lyric is only starting to get attention now because the single indirectly confirmed its existence ages ago.
During a Wango Tango performance after the release of ‘Poker Face’, Lady Gaga admitted that the American radio station, Kiss FM, was the only place to correctly censor the song.
Hats off to Lady Gaga for this little hidden gem and shame on us for taking so long to realise its existence.
Now the real question is whether Lady Gaga has slipped in more trolling lyrics into ‘Poker Face’. Hell, I’m now questioning what “bluffin with my muffin” even really means now.
