This Lady Didn't Like Queen, But Saw 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Everyday Anyway

Is this the real life?

We all have things we like, but not all of us have things we’re super passionate about. Even less of us are willing to dedicate over a months worth of our time in a year to a singular thing, but this woman from Brisbane is here to put us all to shame. She’s taken out the Guinness World Record for the most amount of times viewing the 2018 film Bohemian Rhapsody.

You might remember Joanne Connor from the headlines she made when Bohemian Rhapsody was still in cinemas – she’d seen it 65 times by that point. That was only the beginning.

Speaking to the ABC, Joanne said that “I just found out last week from Guinness Book of World Records that I got the title of seeing the movie Bohemian Rhapsody 108 times, so that’s the highest on record.”

The film goes for 2 hours and 13 minutes, which means that Joanne has spent about 240 hours, or 10 days, in the cinemas purely for Bohemian Rhapsody.

She also reckons she’s seen the movie 291 times at home, because she watches it every night. That adds up to approximately another 645 hours, or 26 days.

According to my esteemed colleague Alex, who is far better at math than I am, she would have spent at least $2160 on movie tickets which adds up to 0.00024% of the movie’s final box office tally. Honestly, my new life goal is to be loaded enough to have $2000+ spare dollars to go see the same movie a hundred times.

The best part though? She wasn’t even a massive fan of Queen when the movie came out.

“I used to like their music – if it was on the radio I’d turn it up, but I went one afternoon with one of my friends just to watch it, fell in love with it, couldn’t stop going and I’m just smitten by them now,” she said.

What a time to be alive. I can only dream of the day that I care about anything even half as much as Joanne cares about Bohemian Rhapsody.
