The Worst Part Of Ruby Rose Leaving 'Batwoman' Is How The Toxic Fans Reacted

The show has only had one season.

In a move no one expected, Ruby Rose is putting her cowl back into storage and will leave Batwoman, which has only aired one season so far and has a second season on the way.

According to Deadline, Ruby Rose and the producers of Batwoman have decided to part ways after a pretty rocky first season that involved backlash from toxic fans, some pretty horrendous injuries, and production challenges brought on by COVID-19.

Speaking of popular TV shows, the GOAT team talk about ‘The Last Dance’ on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

After the news broke, the actress responded with a statement:

“I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season. This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.”

No one is quite sure why Ruby Rose decided to leave Batwoman as the show was finding its feet after the initial backlash from toxic fans and had already been renewed for a new season. Deadline says it’s got nothing to do with Ruby’s injuries either so no one really knows for sure.

As for will happen to Batwoman since it’s missing its Batwoman, Ruby Rose’s title role will be recast with another LGBTQI+ actress. Presumably this will all be like how Marvel handled Rhodey in Iron Man 2 in a sort of “yes we did it, don’t ask” sort of way.

It’s unfortunate that Ruby Rose is bailing on Batwoman after just one season but this news has been nothing but crack for all the toxic fans out there who’ve been hating on and calling for her to be recast since day one.

If you thought all the backlash to Ruby Rose’s initial casting was bad, the toxic reaction from “fans” to her departure is even worse. We won’t embed any of these reactions here since we don’t want to give these fans any more air than they deserve.

But all you need to do is search “Ruby Rose” on Twitter and you’ll see a heap of tweets celebrating her Batwoman departure, making fun of the show, or just being total dickheads about the whole thing. Thankfully there are some supportive messages paying tribute to Ruby sprinkled in among the filth.

No one knows if arsehole “fans” played a part in Ruby Rose leaving Batwoman but it definitely doesn’t help when you have a legion of entitled fanboys constantly posting toxic things about you and your show when you’re just trying to do the best you can.

Here’s hoping Ruby Rose gets back on her feet after leaving Batwoman and the toxic fans will crawl back into their basements.
