Could The Offspring be any more iconic?
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, two things have become ubiquitous. Firstly, there are face-masks, which are obviously worn to help slow the spread of coronavirus, and secondly, there’s Tiger King, the beloved Netflix docu-series that has reached peak popularity because we’re all socially isolating and streaming Netflix more. A new video from The Offspring manages to respond to both of these things.

The Offspring have uploaded their cover Joe Exotic’s ‘Here Kitty Kitty,’ and honestly, we’re going to need the Academy to hand them over a Grammy right now. This upbeat cover features band members appropriately 6 feet apart, a dancer in a tiger onesie and glimpses of the bare, outside world. Honestly, there couldn’t be a more 2020 video if anyone tried. Unless maybe if this video was on TikTok.

In a statement, the band said, “Like many of you, we are going a little stir crazy these days and we wanted to do something fun to put a smile on our faces, and hopefully on some of yours too.”
The band also acknowledge that Joe Exotic didn’t actually write the song, as they said: “This song, ‘Here Kitty Kitty’, was originally by the Clinton Johnson band, and *not* by anyone in that recent documentary we all got caught up in.” Yeah, yeah. Alright, we get it.
Turns out, it was actually the wives of the band members that pushed the group to cover this song. The statement also said, “The Offspring wives were group texting recently, and while they all agreed that they truly love their husbands, there are times when they’ve absolutely felt like feeding us to the tigers. In that spirit, we hope you enjoy this random song & video.”
