The First Look Of Avatar 2 Reminded Us Why We Hated Avatar 1

Amongst all the futuristic sex toys that were unveiled at this year’s CES tech conference, something nostalgic also took everyone by surprise. 

Titanic director, James Cameron, has unveiled some concept art from the upcoming film Avatar 2. The result saw everyone in the world remember that they did, in fact, see that movie, in addition to questioning whether or not they even liked it. 

Honestly, I could not tell you what happened in this movie.

The Avatar content doesn’t even stop there. The conference also saw the debut of a Mercedes Benz concept car that was inspired by the world of Avatar, described as “a completely new interaction between human, machine and nature”. Right.

Given the sequel-reboot-mania that we’re currently in the midst of, it’s not surprising that a movie that was once the highest-grossing film of all time is getting a sequel. However, what is surprising, is that Avatar is signed on for four more films (release dates in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027), with a plot that happens more than a decade after the first.

Over a decade? Really?

A lot of time has happened since the premiere of the first Avatar flick, which means a lot of advancement has been made in the world of CGI. But, much of the chat that followed the unveiling on Twitter didn’t take the form of excitement but merely reflected on the forgettable nature of the blockbuster.

With the filming wrapping up at the end of last year, we should expect Avatar 2 to hit theatres at the end of this year. Are you excited? Because we’re not sure we are…
