The Coronavirus Parodies Of These Songs Are Better Than The OG

These are gonna go viral.

With coronavirus concerns sending every celebrity indoors, we’re seeing a whole lot of content on our social media feeds showing A-Listers passing the time.

An accurate depiction of me during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with this are some old school musical legends who are popping up and giving the performance of a lifetime. And no, I’m not talking about those LiveStream concerts.

I’m talking about the nostalgic musical artists who are parodying their songs in the name of coronavirus, updating the lyrics and showing off their impressive vocal talent. So, without further ado, here are the coronavirus versions of songs, that sound better than the original. There, I said it!

Anastasia – I’m Outta Dove

Now, I know we all miss Anastasia, but, this queen has taken to social media to bring back one of our favourite noughties hits. ‘I’m Outta Love’ – which, if I may add, was featured on the first-ever So Fresh CD – is back on our listening radars because of this iconic parody. The nostalgic queen assures her viewers that what they’re about to witness isn’t spon-con, right before she belts out “I’m Outta Dove, I can’t get clean, I’m at home in quarantine, it could be three days, God forbid a month and my nose can’t handle me, I’m outta Dove, can’t get clean, I’m at home in quarantine, I’m outta Dove.” Okay, pop off incredible vocals.

JoJo – Chill (Stay In)

There were a good few years when JoJo disappeared from the spotlight, due to a dodgy record contract. But now that she’s out of it, she’s dropping new music including a revamp of her 2004 hit, ‘Leave (Get Out)’. Honestly, we stan a queen who can flip their song in the name of spreading awareness. JoJo belts “I never thought corona, could be such a nasty bitch, but now that’s she’s here, boy all I want is for you to use common sense.” Then, she vocally kills it, when she sings “Stay in, right now, do it for humanity, I’m deadass about that, but we will survive. So you gon’ learn how to cook now and practice good hygiene…”  Come through with the facts, JoJo.

Neil Diamond – Sweet Caroline (Don’t Touch Me)

Just yesterday, Neil Diamond shared a new rendition of everyone’s favourite pub-rock song,  ‘Sweet Caroline’. The updated lyrics encourage people to wash their hands amid COVID-19 concerns. He introduces the revamped song by saying, “I know we’re going through a rough time right now, but I love you, and I think, maybe if we sing together, well, we’ll just feel a little bit better. Give it a try, OK?” Just when you think he’s doing a stripped back cover, he hits you with the important information you need to know, singing  “Hands … washing hands … reaching out … don’t touch me … I won’t touch you.” Washing hands? Social distancing? We stan a woke king.

If you’re looking for more iconic tunes to add to your quarantine playlist, don’t worry, we’ve got you!
