The ‘90s Rock Bands We Need On The Offspring And Sum 41 Aussie Tour

Time to crack out the spiky hair and big sunglasses.

If you weren’t already feeling nostalgic AF with the countless ‘comeback tours’ that have landed on Aussie shores lately, you’re going to lose your ‘90s kid mind with the news that rock ledgies The Offspring and Sum 41 have just announced a 2020 Australian tour.

The Offspring took to social media yesterday to break the news of their big tour featuring Sum 41 which kicks off in Perth on the 19th of April and ends in Auckland at the end of the month.

The news of this tour is giving huge throwback feels to the kids who grew up wanting spiky bleached hair, big sunglasses and the 2001 ‘In Too Deep’ single for Christmas.

It also got me thinking, what other iconic ‘90s rock bands should The Offspring and Sum 41 tour Australia with? Here are some suggestions:

Blink-182

It’s unlikely that blink-182 will ever tour Australia again, unless they replace drummer Travis Barker, who hasn’t boarded an aeroplane since he was involved in a fatal plane crash in 2008 which killed four people and left him with burns to 65% of his body. But on the rock lineup of our dreams, there is most definitely a spot for ‘All The Small Things.’

Green Day

Green Day have just released their new track ‘Oh Yeah!’ making now the perfect time for them to join The Offspring and Sum 41 on their Australian tour. Who wouldn’t want Billie Joe Armstrong to take us back to our Year 12 graduation with ‘Time Of Your Life,’ or give the 1994 classic ‘Basket Case’ another spin on stage!?

Speaking of nostalgic bands, listen to the GOAT team breakdown My Chemical Romance’s recent comeback on It’s Been A Big Day For… below:

Red Hot Chili Peppers

I’m certain there are many people out there who would like to see Anthony Keidis grow his hair back down to his butt, take his shirt off and sing ‘Under The Bridge’ here in Oz. Or ‘Scar Tissue,’ or ‘Californication’ or ‘Can’t Stop’ – the options are endless.

Incubus

I’m not going to lie and pretend I’m a huge Incubus fan, but one thing is undeniable, and that is that the band’s 1999 track ‘Drive’ will always be and has always been an incredible tune. Imagine hearing that plus Brandon Boyd’s velvety vocals on stage here in Australia. It’s the stuff dreams are made of.

Third Eye Blind

Third Eye Blind are perhaps best known for the absolute banger that is 1997’s ‘Semi-Charmed Life’ which (fun fact) is actually about a drug user’s descent into crystal meth addiction. Considering they only released their sixth studio album Screamer last October (yes, they’re still going!) it’s only right they bring it to downunder for us to enjoy.
