Singer Duffy Is Ready To Tell Her Horrific Story After Being Held Captive

"Many of you wonder what happened to me."

Remember Duffy? She’s the Welsh singer songwriter who topped the charts in 2007 and 2008 with her tracks ‘Rockferry’ and ‘Mercy.’

Well, after over ten years, Duffy is back, and she’s ready to tell her horrific story of being raped, drugged and held captive for days.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Duffy began, “You can only imagine the amount of times I thought about writing this. The way I would write it, how I would feel thereafter.”

“…Many of you wonder what happened to me, where did I disappear to and why. A journalist contacted me, he found a way to reach me and I told him everything this past summer.”

“The truth is, and please trust me I am OK and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days. Of course I survived. The recovery took time. There’s no light way to say it.”

Later, Duffy said she would be posting a spoken interview in the following weeks and would endeavour to answer any questions her followers have for her. “I have a scared love and sincere appreciation for your kindness over the years. You have been friends. I want to thank you for that.”

It’s so devastating to hear what Duffy has been through and unfortunately, the singer had already been through her fair share of struggles before rising to fame.

In 1998, when she was 14 years old, Duffy briefly stayed in a police safe house when it was discovered her stepfather’s ex-wife Dawn Watson had planned to pay an assassin £3,000 to kill her stepfather, Philip Smith.

According to Evening Standard, Watson was eventually convicted of soliciting to murder and sentences to three and a half years in jail.

Speaking of justice being served, Harvey Weinstein was recently convicted of sexual assault and rape. Listen to the GOAT team break it all down on It’s Been A Big Day For…below:

In her recent Instagram post, Duffy said, “Please respect this is a gentle move for me to make, for myself, and I do not want any intrusion to my family. Please support me to make this a positive experience.”

Our hearts go out to Duffy during this difficult time and wish her the best on her road to recovery.
