As COVID-19 continues to spread at a rapid rate, many movie and TV sets have been shut down with Robert Pattinson’s The Batman the most recent to experience delays.
Following Disney’s announcement that they are suspending all productions on Friday, The Batman has stopped production in London.
THR reports the movie will stop filming for two weeks and the cast and crew are hopeful they will be back shooting by the end of March.
According to the publication, the studio has said it will “continue to monitor the situation closely” so it is possible the film’s schedule will be delayed even further.
The Batman began filming in London in January and production had plans to move the shoot to Liverpool before being shut down.
Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been delayed after the film’s director Destin Daniel Cretton was tested for COVID-19. The movie is being shot in Sydney, Australia.

Warner Bros reported earlier in the week their productions including The Batman, The Matrix 4, Fantastic Beasts 3 and King Richard would be continuing on with filming, however, it’s clear the studio has had a change of heart following the virus being labelled a pandemic.
The Batman is one of the most highly-anticipated releases of 2021 with the movie taking a different angle than we’ve previously seen.
Along with Pattinson, the movie’s cast includes Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham’s district attorney.
We can only hope the delay in production won’t alter the movie’s release date of June 25, 2021.
