It’s always interesting picturing iconic characters being played by other stars and it turns out Little Fires Everywhere stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington almost played an iconic movie duo – Cher and Dionne in Clueless!
While promoting their new miniseries, Reese and Kerry found out they almost crossed paths back in the early ’90s when they auditioned for Cher and Dionne.
Speaking with Buzzfeed, Reese said, “One thing that is public and it came out last year, I auditioned so hard for Clueless, and I didn’t get it.”
Kerry, surprised, quickly responded, “I did, too!”
Um, if there was anyone who’d be perfect to replace Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash in the movie, it would totally be Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington!
They then said they should recreate a scene together, which would honestly be amazing to see.
Reese and Kerry both worked during the ’90s but hadn’t quite ‘made’ it yet, Reese had starred in The Man in the Moon in 1991 and in Disney’s A Far Off Place, while Kerry had only been in an episode of ABC Afterschool Specials.
The pair first actually met many years ago for a script reading at Leonardo DiCaprio’s house of all places for roles in a movie that neither they nor Leo ended up working on.

Apparently, Reese wasn’t Alicia Silverstone’s only big competition for the role of Cher, Angelina Jolie, Keri Russell and Gwyneth Paltrow were all up for the role at some point as well.
Whoever did the casting for that movie was very good at their job!
