Prepare For A Dose Of Nostalgia Cos 'Ratchet And Clank' Are Returning

Even more reason to get the new PS5.

Attention all Ratchet And Clank fans, the duo is back and they’re in more pixels than ever before.

Today is a great day to be a PlayStation fan, we tell you. Not only did they announce the incredibly chic PlayStation 5 design, but they also dropped a list of games that’ll be hitting stores when the console drops.

We spoke about the unveiling of the PlayStation 5 console on today’s episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

While many Twitter users were excited over the free Grand Theft Auto game that would be coming with the PS5, our eyes went straight to the new Ratchet And Clank game, Rift Apart. You can watch the full trailer here.

It’s been almost 20 years since we were introduced to Ratchet And Clank in 2002. Since their debut on the scene, they’ve been entertaining us through Deadlocked and Nexus leading us to this very moment.

This new instalment in the Ratchet And Clank series is “built from the ground up” for the PS5. The PlayStation Blog explained that this game “showcases what’s possible for games designed around PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense wireless controller,” so that’s exciting.

Developed by Insomniac Games, Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart follows the duo on the run from a robotic army. In terms of setting, it looks like these two will be swinging from the jungle to a Blade Runner-esque futuristic cityscape right before dropping into a prehistoric canyon. Honestly, we’re not sure of the timeline, but we’re excited.

And we’re not the only ones. The Internet lost their minds at the introduction of a new character in the game.

In a statement, Marcus Smith, a creative director at Insomniac, called the game a “full-length interdimensional adventure,” saying: “We’re doing things we’ve never been able to do before, like use dimensional rifts to be able to leap from planet to planet nearly instantly or put ray trace reflections on Clank.”

The announcement for Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart came just after Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Both games have seen widespread positive reactions online and honestly, we ready for it.
