Noughties Emos Rejoice, Short Stack Might Be Making A Comeback

PRINCESS, WHY YOU SO CONTAGIOUS?

Remember when all you wanted in life was to perfect your side fringe, rock a shitload of eyeliner and pick the perfect MySpace song? Well, those days might be about to return because 00s emo band Short Stack could be making a comeback.

Rumours of a reunion started swirling over the weekend when the band changed their Twitter cover photo and profile picture. Might sound like nothing, but when an artist goes out of their way to change update their socials, there’s usually something ~exciting~ on the horizon.

If that wasn’t enough of a tease, Pedestrian has reported that the account holder has been going on a ‘liking spree’ since last year and in a since-deleted tweet, Short Stack singer Shaun Diviney wrote, “maaaaybe be online tomorrow night.”

ICYMI – or didn’t go through an emo phase during high school – Short Stack were an Aussie pop punk band that formed in 2002 and topped the charts in 2009 with tracks like ‘Princess’ and ‘Sway, Sway Baby!”

I mean, how could we possibly forget singing “PRINCESSSS WHY YOU SO CONTAGGGIOUUUSS” into a hair brush!?

And same goes for Clemmenson, who became a dad last may:

Sadly, Short Stack parted ways in 2012. The band told their Facebook followers that “even though we are no longer making music, we still remain the closest friends.”

Frontman Shaun Diviney continued a career in music and released his own EP in 2013 and in 2012, bass player Andy Clemmensen made an appearance on Neighbours. In 2014, the band briefly reunited for their single ‘Television’ but disbanded shortly after.

Nowadays, Diviney is a full-blown family man who works in real estate:

We’re not the only ones freaking out about Short Stack possibly reuniting in 2020. Twitter has been going off since the rumours began.

So, if Short Stack do make a comeback, what will their vibe be? Whether they go full-blown 00s emo or bring their look and sound into 2020 is anyone’s guess. Watch this space.
