Nick Cannon Joins The Long List Of Celebs Fired For Anti-Semitic Comments

"We are deeply troubled."

Welp, this is awkward. ViacomCBS and Wild ‘N Out host, Nick Cannon, have officially severed ties after anti-Semitic comments were made on a podcast.

Speaking of controversy, we spoke about the Palace letters on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

The controversy can be found on a recent episode of Nick Cannon’s podcast Cannon’s Class, where Cannon discussed race and racism with Richard “Professor Griff” Griffin (of Public Enemy fame).

Here, Nick Cannon spouted some anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about the wealthy Jewish family, The Rothschilds, saying they’re: “the bloodlines that control everything, even outside of America.” Nick Cannon also said that Black people are the “true Hebrews,” and people who have “the lack of pigment” are “a little less” than those who do.

As a result of this ViacomCBS have severed ties with the reality show host, saying in a statement to Deadline: “ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.”

But, Nick Cannon is not the only celebrity who has spouted anti-Semitic garbage. Here are a few celebs who have damaged their reputation because of doing so themselves.

Charlie Sheen

In 2011, Charlie Sheen lashed out at Two and a Half Men’s co-creator Chuck Lorre during an interview on the Alex Jones Show. Here, Charlie Sheen referred to Chuck Lorre by his birth name is Charles Levine and said he had embarrassed him “in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that his un-evolved mind cannot process.” Let’s just say, Two and a Half Men would never be the same again.

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson has also had a long history with making anti-Semitic comments, but the most recent instance was outed by actress Winona Ryder. Last month, Winona Ryder, who identifies as Jewish, spoke to the Sunday Times about her experiences of antisemitism in Hollywood and recalled a time when Mel Gibson called her an “oven dodger.”

John Galliano

In 2011, The British designer John Galliano was given a fine of €6,000 ($9,770 AUD) by a Paris court for racist and anti-Semitic comments towards people in a Paris bar. He made 30 anti-Semitic insults in the space of 45 minutes, saying things like “f**king ugly Jewish bitch” and “f**king Asian bastard”. He’s also joked about loving Hitler.

Welp, there you go. Not a good list to be on, hey?
