Movies That Happen In Just 24 Hours Or Less

Sometimes you just want to watch something that gets to the point.

There are a lot of lists suggesting things to watch or do while we’re all stuck in coronavirus lockdown, but sometimes you need something to watch with a plot that doesn’t jump around to much. One where you sill know what decade you’re in if you decide not to pause the movie while you go and get snacks. We have you covered because we’re nice like that, so here are some movies that take place in 24 hours or less.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

Five teenagers spend nine hours of Saturday detention together. The Criminal, The Princess, The Brain, The Athlete, and The Basket Case spend the day realising that they’re not as different as they might have thought.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

As the title implies, Ferris Bueller manages to get off school for a day, and takes his friend Cameron and girlfriend Sloane with him. You will never be able to hear Oh Yeah by Yello without thinking of a Ferrari again.

Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day (2008)

Set in London just before World War II, Guinevere Pettigrew has just been fired from her fourth job. After accepting a job as a nanny, she gets swept up in high society and makes fast friends with Delysia Lafosse.

Before Sunrise (1995)

Jesse meets Céline on a train from Budapest, and they strike up a conversation. The spend the rest of the night walking and talking, and revealing more about themselves than they probably would have if they had longer than a night together. The sequels, Before Sunset and Before Midnight also stick to very short timeframes.

Dazed And Confused (1993)

The plot follows different groups of teenagers on their last day of school. The new seniors are hazing the incoming freshmen, and basically everyone is trying to get stoned, drunk, or laid. That includes the football players that signed a pledge not to, lest they they jeopardize their upcoming football season.

You’re all set to go! Chuck on Netflix, make some popcorn, and enjoy the art of the movie that happens in 24 hours.
