From being the source of several great memes to generating headlines for being unashamedly herself regardless of whether she’s at home or at a basketball game, 2019 has been quite the year for Lizzo.
As the year wraps up under a cloud of holiday spirit, Lizzo has decided to add to these good vibes by sharing a bit of inspiration for those who need it for the new year.
After her well-received debut appearance of Saturday Night Live, where she unsurprisingly killed it with a one-two combo of ‘Truth Hurts’ and ‘Good as Hell’, Lizzo shared a follow-up post on Twitter of two photos, one herself dressed as a sign-spinning Statue of Liberty before she became famous and the other of herself literally as the Statue of Liberty for an SNL promo.
Writing the caption “On the left was when I worked for liberty taxes, as a sign spinner… on the right is my [SNL] debut. Don’t stop.. we need you. Your time is coming”, it’s clear that Lizzo hasn’t forgotten where she started and where she is now.
Someone once said the truth hurts but there’s nothing painful about this Twitter post from Lizzo.
It’s easy to forget that Lizzo only broke into the mainstream in 2019 and it wasn’t that long ago that she was a relative unknown to most.
But as she has shown in her tweet and throughout 2019, hard work and effort will be rewarded eventually, which is perhaps the best inspirational message we can take into 2020.
Perhaps there’s no better way to sign off this bit of Lizzo inspo than with her kickarse SNL performance of ‘Good as Hell’. Can’t wait to see what sort of Juice she’s going to bring in the new year.
