Lil Nas X Spent His First Paycheck In The Most Gloriously Wholesome Way

Lil Nas X is too pure for this world.

Lil Nas X isn’t only the Grammy Award-winning genius behind ‘Old Town Road’ and an icon of our generation. He’s also the most wholesome thing you’ll hear about today.

In a recent interview with Insider, the rapper and singer-songwriter was asked what he did with his first major paycheck. Instead of spending it on a luxury car, expensive clothes or jewellery like I most definitely would, Lil Nas X spent it on your favourite teenage pastime: bowling.

“What did I do with my first major paycheck? I think I took my family bowling,” he said. “Like, everybody. It was a lot of us, not just my immediate family. But yeah.”

It’s no surprise Lil Nas X spent his bucks on such a pure family activity. Just one year ago the 20-year-old, whose real name is Montero Hill, was couch surfing at his sister’s place when he paid $30 to lease a beat online and turned it into ‘Old Town Road.’

Since then, ‘Old Town Road’ has gone on to be the longest-reigning number one hit in the 61-year history of the Billboard Hot 100. It’s earned Lil Nas X countless awards and catapulted him to international fame.

Lil Nas X also became an icon in the LGBTQ community after he came out on Twitter last July ahead of the release of his song ‘C7osure.’

“Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more,” he tweeted. “But before this month ends I want y’all to listen closely to c7osure,” referencing the lyrics in the song.

When Ellen DeGeneres introduced Lil Nas X at the Grammys, she said, “Unwavering in the face of prejudice, he told the world that he was gay and then he became an inspiration to millions of young people around the world.”

Speaking of the LGBT community, listen to how Hallmark got it so wrong with one of their recent ads on It’s Been A Big Day For… below:

Lil Nas X has gone onto inspire so many people and create incredible music we can’t get out of our heads and on top of all of that – he’s still humble as hell. What a legend.
