Leave Zoom Meetings At Work And Flex With These HouseParty Features

Literally, the work/life balance we all need.

There seems to be a correlation between COVID-19 concerns and social media in that, the more people self-isolate, the more Instagram and Facebook feeds become bombarded with screenshots of Zoom meetings. But, we’re a firm believer in separating work with play, so we’ve got a new app to recommend you.

Hear about COVID-19’s most creative connections on It’s Been A Big Day For… below:

Leave the Zoom meetings for work-related stuff, it’s time for you to download another app called ‘HouseParty’. Launched in 2016, HouseParty is pretty much Snapchat meets FaceTime. The ‘face to face social network’ allows users to hang out with up to eight mates at a time, making it the perfect way to enjoy self-isolation.

Not only this, but the app replicates an actual house party, in that anyone can randomly chat to you if you’re on the app. So take this as a warning, if you go on and use HouseParty, make sure you’re ready to chat with anyone – and we mean, anyone. Because that can happen… Seriously.

So, if you’re over the limited fun you can have on Zoom meetings, then check out HouseParty’s cool and fun features, here are a few of our faves:

1. Trivia

Everyone loves a good ol’ trivia night. Sadly, now that self-isolation has us stuck in our houses, we’re headed to pub-trivia less and less. But, don’t let that fact get rid of trivia in your life all together! While you can host your own trivia night using Zoom meetings, HouseParty’s interface is a whole lot easier. Just round up all your mates in one chat, lock the room and pick the topic of your choice. It’s that easy!

2. Heads Up!

Let’s be real, the best parties are the ones where Heads Up! is whipped out. Now you can play this game completely virtually thanks to HouseParty. If you’re unsure of the rules, this game is essentially the game ‘Articulate’, but without the board. Describe the word on screen to one of your friends to see how quickly they get it. I’d love to see a Zoom meeting with this game!

3. Quick Draw

If talking isn’t really your thing, then opt for Quick Draw. Available through the HouseParty app, this mini-game is essentially Pictionary. But, let’s be real, it’s much better than Pictionary because you don’t have to throw out a whole bunch of paper when you’re done. Can you play Pictionary in a Zoom meeting? Didn’t think so!

4. Chips And Guac

It’s like Cards Against Humanity, but not really. Play with at least three people or more and compete for having the most relevant pair of juxtaposing things. I’d love to see a Zoom meeting try to have this game!
