Gaga's 'Stupid Love' Isn't The First Music Video Shot On An iPhone

From Selena Gomez to Kanye West, check out these clips.

Well, Lady Gaga’s ‘Stupid Love’ video is finally out and yes, we can confirm, it’s a literal banger. It’s been a bumpy ride that involved some hacking and involved going viral a few times, but now that its out, we have no choice but to stan.

The video wasn’t the only thing grabbing people’s attention though. Many users who watched the video were quick to noice the hashtag, #ShotOniPhone. Well, while this is certainly impressive, we’re here to let you know that she definitely isn’t the first person to do this. Let’s get cracking into some other videos that were also shot on an iPhone.

Lose You To Love Me – Selena Gomez

Late last year, Selena Gomez marked her return to the pop industry with a ballad to end all ballads. Funnily enough, this music video was also shot on an iPhone. This blac-and-white music video definitiely made use of the additional visual effects that are offered on the newer iPhone models, like the slow-motion and time-lapse effect. Like ‘Stupid Love’, this video was shot on an iPhone 11 Pro, justifying why the quality of the video is so good. You can check the iPhones in action here in the Behind The Scenes video of the music clip.

Only One – Kanye West, Paul McCartney

In 2014, Kanye West wrote and sung a beautiful song dedicated to his daughter North, from the perspective of her grandmother, Donda West to himself. The minimalist song also had a minimalist music video to go with it. The music video for ‘Only One’ was directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Her, Adaptation) and depicts Kanye playing with his daughter on an open road. Because it was shot on an iPhone back in 2015, the quality of the music video only reaches 720p, but that ultimately doens’t matter. Watching this video, you feel like you’re right there with Kanye and North. Shooting on an iPhone here wasn’t for quality but for the intimacy that comes with iPhone footage.

Look At Her Now – Selena Gomez

A day after Selena Gomez released the iPhone-assisted music video, ‘Lose You To Love Me’, she dropped yet another one. ‘Look At Her Now’ is the second single to come off Rare and has another impressive music video to go with it. Do yourself a favour, go and watch the Behind The Scenes footage for this video, because the amount of tripods that went into this clip are insane.

Wait – Maroon 5

To promote Maroon 5’s 2018 single ‘Wait’, the band released a ‘Snapchat Version’, the day prior the official video would come out. The video, directed and prodcued by Travis Schneider, follows the lead-singer, Adam Lavine go through virtually every snapchat filter in existence. Little did they know, they’d be starting the trend of vertical videos which everyone from Billie Eilish to Taylor Swift are doing.
