I previously wrote that if there was anything good to come out of this coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, it’s the mountain of great new music that was written by musicians while in self-isolation. Well it seems like I spoke too soon because Jeremy Renner has used his coronavirus isolation to also write new music and based on the new album, The Medicine, he’s just released, it’s not the thing that will help us get through this tough time.

With all that’s gone on with Jeremy Renner on and off the big screen, it’s easy to forget that he also has a music career on the side for some reason, and The Medicine is a torturous reminder that just because someone could record new music during their coronavirus iso doesn’t mean they should.
Taking to Instagram to officially announce The Medicine, Renner’s writes in the caption:
“I’ve always found music to be one of the few things that unite people in a pure way. Common ground can be hard to find in today’s world, but music has remained a constant for me. To feel deeply, to dance fervently, and live together is more present now than ever.”
Not sure if Jeremy Renner is trying to sooth us about the coronavirus pandemic or something with his album description (dancing fervently and living together doesn’t seem like good advice right now), but whatever he’s trying to do it isn’t working because The Medicine sounds exactly what you imagine new music from Hawkeye to be like.
With auto-tuned vocals blaring over radio-friendly soft rock instrumentals, Jeremy Renner’s new music feels more suited to pub karaoke at 3am than an anthem written to help ease our minds of the coronavirus.
There are plenty of other things to do to pass the time during your coronavirus self-isolation but listening to Jeremy Renner’s new music certainly isn’t one of them. Is it too late to go back in time in Endgame so that Black Widow could live instead of Hawkeye?
