Ja Rule Wrote A Song About Fyre Festival That Literally No One Asked For

We didn't want or need this.

You know you’ve screwed up when something you were involved in becomes the yardstick that we all measure how bad something is against. Case in point, Fyre Festival. You would think that if you were someone like Ja Rule who was involved in such a disaster, you’d never want it mentioned again. You’d be wrong, because Ja Rule has released a new song all about the festival.

The track is called For Your Real Entertainment (FYRE) and the artwork is a pencil sketch of that infamous cheese sandwich, so you know we’re off to a good start here.

He doesn’t exactly seem remorseful.

“The festival is on fire / We don’t need no water, make that motherf*cker hotter / Hotter than the sun, but it wasn’t that / Show of hands if you got your money back? / Just playing, I got sued for that / 100 mil to be exact.”

In July, a judge decided that Ja Rule didn’t actually commit fraud when it came to Fyre Festival, because he didn’t know that it would be the shitshow that we all know and love. He references that decision too, with the lyrics “In the people’s court, baby they’ll hang ya, like their ancestors / full sabotage, it ain’t fraud.”

Basically he’s trying to make light of the whole event, but sticks by his original stance of being hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, and lead astray. Not that any of that has stopped him trying to launch an app that is intended to become Fyre Festival 2.0.

Still, it seems like a strange choice to release a whole song about an event like Fyre Festival that most people involved wish would just disappear.

Billy McFarland is also supposedly writing a memoir called Promythus: The God of Fyre from prison, so between that and Ja Rule’s new song, I don’t think we’ll ever be allowed to forget the mess that was Fyre Festival.
