Is 'Fleabag' Obama's Fave Show Because Of Its Sexy Reference To Him?

He must've watched THAT scene.

Undoubtedly, Fleabag was one of the greatest shows to come out of 2019 and it has even made Barack Obama’s annual list of favourite TV shows and films.

However, Obama’s nod to Fleabag has fans asking: is it because of that scene?

Season one of the show, created by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, featured a hilarious scene in which Waller-Bridge’s character is caught by her boyfriend masturbating over Barack Obama making a keynote speech to Parliament in 2011.

While it was Season two of the show that made Obama’s list, it’d be odd for him to have not started with the first season and consequently watched Waller-Bridge indulging in a little self-love over his powerful speech.

Fleabag wasn’t the only TV show Obama was loving in 2019. The former POTUS also listed Netflix’s Unbelievable and the superhero series Watchmen.

As far as movies go, Obama’s taste is just as good. Among his 2019 favourites was Little Women, The Irishman, Marriage Story and Booksmart.

Booksmart director and actress Olivia Wilde was understandably shocked and delighted that Obama had listed her film, taking to Twitter to share her amazement.

The official Twitter account for Fleabag also responded to Obama’s mention, tweeting “we couldn’t ask for a higher praise than this.”

Obama also shared his favourite songs of 2019, and you guessed it – yet another great selection. The list features everything from ‘Juice’ by Lizzo, to ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X and even a bit of good old fashioned Bruce Springsteen.

Along with the list, Obama tweeted, “From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year. If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick.”

All this confirms is that yes, Barack Obama has impeccable taste and he’s not afraid of a bit of naughty humour.
