Here’s What We Know About All The Upcoming ‘Star Wars’ Shows

A new "female-centric" series was announced today.

Star Wars has expanded will beyond the core movies these days, and even though the world is stuck in isolation they continue to bring us the good stuff. This morning we learned that there was another series in the works, so here’s what we know about all the upcoming Star Wars shows.

For more about how shows are being made under lockdown, catch up with the GOAT Team…

Untitled Star Wars Series

This is the one that we found out about this morning, and details are pretty scarce so far. We do know that it will be written and showrun by Leslye Headland, who co-created the Emmy winning Russian Doll

The plot is being kept a secret, but we’ve been given just enough info to get excited. The series will be female-focussed, and everything will happen in a different part of the Star Wars timeline to what we’ve already seen.

The Mandalorian Season Three

Awwww yes, in the best news about upcoming Star Wars stories, Baby Yoda is back! The second season is due for release in October – it may well be the only good thing to come out of 2020 – and yesterday it was revealed that pre-production has already begun on season three.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

Ewan McGregor is back as Obi-Wan, and while filming was set to begin in the middle of this year, coronavirus has pushed it back to early 2021. We know that we’ll be getting six one-hour episodes, and McGregor also confirmed that “the storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV.”

Deborah Chow is back in the directors chair as well, a name you might recognise from the directors chair of The Mandalorian.

Rogue One Prequel

Rogue One is a prequel to Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, but now we’re getting a prequel to the prequel. This one is still supposedly fimming this year, and the release date isn’t locked in yet, but will likely be 2021.

This show will focus mostly on the life of Cassian Andor in the lead up to Rogue One, and Tony Gilroy – who co-wrote Rogue One – will be directing multiple episodes.
