Here’s How To Play Your Fave Board Games With Mates During COVID-19

Pursuit of trivia is over.

Who doesn’t love a good board game?

Bored at home? We’ve got some pointers for you on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

As COVID-19 has sent us all indoors for the past few weeks, we’ve been forced to entertain ourselves in new and innovative ways. One of these ways has been through revisiting nostalgic board games. But, if you’re starting to get sick of your roommates, family members, or your partner, then have no fear, we have some alternatives! All you’ll need is a Zoom/ Teams / Slack / FaceTime equivalent to get these online board games going!

Trivia

We know you miss pub trivia. The thought of a chicken-schnitzel and a beer whilst trying to recall the most useless of facts sounds absolutely incredible right now. But, as we can’t go to the pub, we’ve got the next best thing. Zoom trivia. Round up all your mates, designate a leader and let the board game fun begin. While you can do this on FaceTime or Facebook Messanger, we recommend Zoom for this one, as it allows you to break off into groups then come back together. It’s almost like Zoom was made for board games and nothing else!

Charades

The best board game without a board.

Now this one sounds simple and that’s because it is. All you have to do is round up some friends on a video-call and let the fun begin. Give yourself set categories and a number of rounds so there’s some sort of rule-thing going on. But, that’s pretty much it! For some extra fun, why don’t you take this game to HouseParty and let all the randoms join in!

Pictionary

This is the level of frustration I exude in every board game.

For some reason, I love Pictionary more online than I do in real-life. For me, the biggest issue with Pictionary in real-life is my inability to draw anything, and I know you feel the same! So, if you feel like you can’t draw for shit, opt for this online version where you can erase all the screw-ups as you go! Plus, you can input your own words so get ready for all the inside jokes to come out and about!

Scategories

Scategories is one of the most underrated games of all time. The premise is simple, you’re given a random letter and a list of categories, and you need to find examples within that category that start with that letter. Simple? Yet so fun. And now, you can play this board game online! As you go through your typed answers, you can anonymously mark the other players. How easy is that?

Happy playing!
