Taylor Swift isn’t shy about writing songs about her personal experiences, and that includes heartbreak. While many of Swift’s exes haven’t addressed the songs that have reportedly been written about them, Harry Styles had the most refreshing response to them.
Swift dated Styles from last 2012 to early 2013, with many fans believing her songs ‘Out of the Woods’ and ‘Style’ were written about him.
In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Styles was asked about people writing songs about him and said, “I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else and for somebody else to do that, it’s like flattering, even if the song isn’t that flattering, you still spent time on it and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she’s a great songwriter. So at least they’re good songs.”
“The only time you really think, ‘is this song too personal?’ is if you think about, ‘is this going to be really annoying for the other person?’ Because I do [care],” he said.
What a sweetheart.
It’s so easy to be bitter about an ex but for Harry Styles, it’s much easier to treat his exes with kindness and respect – even if they wrote an “unflattering” song about your relationship. It also helps that Styles is no stranger to writing songs about his former flames. Many fans think his 2017 track ‘Two Ghosts’ is about Swift, and it’s been all but confirmed that the song ‘Cherry’ from his recent album Fine Line is about his ex-girlfriend Camille Rowe.
During his interview with Howard Stern, Harry Styles also revealed that he would “definitely” like to get married someday and his thoughts on dating. “It’s always kind of a balance thing, because you want to date normally but then, you also want to protect it so it can be normal,” he said. “I think a big part of it is like, you wanna be able to spend enough time with each other where you can get to know each other before you have to deal with the extra stuff.”
