Fans of The Princess Diaries films aren’t the only ones getting impatient for the third instalment: Julie Andrews wants The Princess Diaries 3 done stat.

It remains quite clear that Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway are both very much down to film The Princess Diaries 3, so what on earth are we waiting for?
After the COVID-19 pandemic is all done and dusted, we’re going to need whatever movie studio is on board to get their shit together and work on this flick because we need to pretend we’re princesses ASAP.
In a video-chat interview with U.S. talk show The Talk, Julie Andrews opened up about the possibility of The Princess Diaries 3, saying: “I heard that there might be (a script).”
Now, we knew there was a script in some form already because Anne Hathaway spoke about it on Andy Cohen’s talk show early last year. Evidently, that script didn’t make its way to Julie, as she said, “It’s long been talked about but nothing sort of been on my desk or anything like that. I think I would.”
There you have it, the two core members of the cast are down, so let’s get the ball rolling. Julie Andrews followed this statement up by saying, “I’m getting awfully old and crotchety. I’m not sure if it’s the right timing, but I think to work with Annie would be lovely again, and sure I’d be up for it. I think we should wait for—if a script comes in, let’s wait for that…”
Side note: Incredibly cute that Julie Andrews has a nickname for Anne Hathaway, now that’s the off-screen relationship we love to see.
Julie Andrews also opened up about the director of the films, Gary Marshall, who sadly won’t be able to take part in the project: “Of course, we wouldn’t have the wonderful Gary Marshall who was the director. He’s passed. And he was really the nuts and bolts of it all.”

Now more than ever, it feels like we need The Princess Diaries 3. The positivity and feel-good nature of the first two films are what is getting us through these dark times. Not to mention, we’re feeling super nostalgic for it. In an Instagram post, Anne Hathaway uploaded a picture doing the #PillowChallenge whilst dressed like her character. Sigh.
