Disney+ Is Censoring It All, So Why Does Hugh Jackman's Butt Get To Stay?

Fans are confused.

When Disney+ launched late last year, fans were excited by the promise of all their favourite Walt Disney, Pixar and Marvel content available to watch on-demand in one place. However, it came at a very PG cost. The streaming platform has censored everything from Daryl Hannah’s backside in Splash, to the name “Isis” in Hannah Montana and even a Michael Jackson episode of The Simpsons. Despite all of this, Disney+ has left Hugh Jackman’s bare buttocks uncensored in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The 2014 film, which recently landed on Disney+, follows the original X-Men characters as they join forces with their younger selves from the past to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle to save our future. Oh, and it also features Hugh Jackman AKA Wolverine’s naked booty.

Speaking of censorship, hear about how platforms are retrofitting problematic content below:

Jackman took to Instagram over the weekend to share news of his butt’s small screen debut with the caption, “Days of Future Past becomes the first movie to air on Disney+ uncensored. That was my future but let’s be honest…it’s more like my past.”

The X-Men actor shared a few stills from the film including said shot of his peach, covered by a cheeky emoji.

The raunchy Insta shot has over 1.2M likes and even caught the attention of fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, who commented, “Excited for them to do the same for Deadpool. It’s time children knew. #Samesies.”

Hugh Jackman’s prized asset isn’t the only part of X-Men: Days of Future Past Disney+ left unedited. The film also features an F-bomb – leaving fans confused as to why so much other content on Disney+ is still censored.

There’s also the fact that movies like Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Last Jedi feature violent scenes that show people being killed, but aren’t censored either.

Is Hugh Jackman’s bare butt Disney’s way of dipping a toe out of the PG pond? Either way, it sounds like fans are quite happy for it to stay.
