Claire Saffitz Has Left The Bon Appetit Test Kitchen & We're Gutted

Claire Saffitz aka the host of the wildly popular Gourmet Makes series by the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen has bloody left Conde Nast.

Me RN.

To say we’re bummed would be a huge understatement – Gourmet Makes got us (and many others according to YT comments) through lockdown. And those ones that featured Brad from It’s Alive? Serotonin straight into our veins, baby.

In a statement released via Instagram, Claire revealed she is officially no longer associated with Conde Nast Entertainment, or the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen.

“I’m grateful to Bon Appetit and CNE for the opportunity to build my career on their platforms, but this opportunity was not granted equally to all. I respect and support the decisions of many of my colleagues to blaze new trails. I look forward to following all of their great work,” she wrote.

“Bon Appetit’s new leadership, coupled with the incredible hard work and dedication of the staff, make me confident that it will be a more equitable, inclusive, and dynamic place in the future.”

It comes after allegations of racism and unfair treatment of staff were revealed earlier this year, sparking a raft of resignations starting with Sohla El-Waylly and including Priya Krishna, Rick Martinez with Molly Baz and now Claire joining in solidarity.

Editor-in-chief Adam Rapoport also resigned.

The one sliver of good news? Claire has a cookbook out soon and we’ve got our fingers crossed it will include footnotes from Brad.

Finally, if you haven’t watched this episode of It’s Alive feat. Claire… you’re missing out (and by episode we mean three part series):
